Workshops for Cycle 3, 2008:

1. MEANING VS. FORM: IDENTIFYING AND MAKING GRAMMAR CONNECTIONS: Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 11 am to 12 noon In this workshop, we will look at some of the processes behind language acquisition, and how we, as teachers, can help students notice form. There will be hand-ons practice identifying activities that focus on form and those that focus on meaning.

2. MOTIVATING AND ENGAGING TEENAGE LANGUAGE LEARNERS: Saturday, June 28, 2008, 1:15 to 2:15 pm Antsy students? Apathetic learners? Students asking, "What's the point"? Come to this workshop to discuss what makes teenagers tick... and what doesn't. There will be practical recommendations for structuring lessons as well as teenage-friendly activities.

3. ACTIVITIES TO DEVELOP LANGUAGE AWARENESS Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 11 am to 12 noon In this workshop we will be looking at different consciousness-raising activities. Teachers will create activities, as well as adapt book activities, that get students to notice form and raise awareness of how some grammar structures work.
